School calendar

The school year begins in September and ends in June.

It is structured in three terms with two 3-week term breaks (in December / January and March / April) and two 3-day mid-term breaks (in October and February). The School complies with all public (mobile) holidays as announced by the local authorities. The School Calendar is issued at the beginning of each academic year.

Parent-Teacher Association (PTA)

Parents together with members of the school administration gather on an ad hoc basis to improve the quality of school life and..

make the environment more enjoyable in multiple ways. Typically, the PTA engages in improving the school facilities and/or the after-school program; organizing festivities.

Encouragement for Parental Engagement

Once classes begin, we strongly encourage all Parents and Sponsors to join us for Class Observation.

This will allow you to participate in your child’s class as a silent observer. This represents a unique opportunity for you as Parents to get a first-hand insight on how your child is interacting with their day-to-day environment and the school community. After the observation, there is usually an opportunity for parents to discuss their observations and ask questions. This communication is crucial for a shared understanding between parents and teachers. A schedule proposal will be sent to you six weeks after school resumes. We look forward to your active participation in this enriching experience.

House Visits

Upon the request of parents, house visits can be organized by the educators or guides.

The purpose of house visits is to foster a strong connection between the school and the child’s home environment. By visiting the child’s home, educators gain insights into the child’s daily life, routines, and family dynamics. Observing the child in their home environment provides valuable information for educators. It allows them to see the child in a familiar setting, gaining insights into the child’s interests, interactions, and natural tendencies. This understanding helps educators tailor the learning experience to better meet the individual needs and interests of the child. House visits foster open communication and collaboration, allowing educators and parents to work together in supporting the child’s development. YEM educators may provide suggestions and guidance on creating a Montessori-friendly environment at home. This could include recommendations for materials, activities, and practices that align with Montessori principles.

Summer School Program

Every year in July, the School offers both to its students as well as students from other schools four weeks of summer school.

The program combines language and math exercises customized to every participant in the morning hours with a series of fun activities ranging from outdoor games, swimming to art and crafts activities in the afternoon. Parents can register their children for one up to all four weeks.
